Renew Bariatrics does not consider the use of medicinal and recreational marijuana as contraindications to surgery. However, patients are required to stop consuming all forms of marijuana, seven days prior to surgery
 
Marijuana, like nicotine, can cause surgical complications. Marijuana has been show to increase the amount of pain for patients. Marijuana can also interact with anesthesia causing serious issues.

  • Inhalation / Smoke / Vape
  • Edibles
  • Gum
  • Candies
  • Food/Bakery

All patients are required to stop all consumption of marijuana seven days prior to bariatric surgery. Please contact our team for further information. 

30 days after your bariatric surgery, you can start consuming all forms of marijuana and marijuana-related products.
