Education and experience
Dr. Armenta completed his internship at Hospital General del Estado de Sonora and his social service at Ejido Sansón Flores in Mexicali, Baja California.
He trained as a general surgeon at Hospital General Regional No. 1, then completed courses in surgical stapling, laparoscopic skills and laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Dr. Armenta has worked as a general surgeon at IMSS Regional Hospital No. 20 in Tijuana, Rosarito General Hospital and the IMSS Regional Hospital in Chihuahua, and as chief of surgery at the Mexican Red Cross in Tijuana.
He took the first mini gastric bypass (MGB/OAGB) course of the Mexican College of Obesity and Metabolic Disease Surgery in 2016, attended its XIX and XX International Congresses in 2017 and 2018, and completed advanced endoscopy training in 2018.
