People from all over the the World come to Renew Bariatrics for life-changing mini gastric bypass surgery. Learn the weight loss achieved before and after having weight loss surgery in Mexico.
These before and afters will help you determine your next step in your journey. If you’re ready to take the next step please apply for mini gastric bypass surgery.
My journey has been amazing, not necessarily easy, but has got me on the right path for my health. Before I decided on mini bypass, I tried pretty much every diet and diet pill there is. No matter what I did, I could never get under 230lbs. My doctor told me that she thought the only way I would actually lose is surgery. Looked into it in the states, but insurance didn’t cover any of it, so I was lucky enough to find Renew and Dr. Perez.
I had to relearn how to eat, my new stomach likes and dislikes certain things. I am mindful what I eat and hit 80-90g of protein everyday. I need to work on eating more veggies though as I do not really like them too much. I am a full time college student and work full time and have 2 kids so I do not get much free time to workout, but I have been walking about 45 minutes to 1 hour at least 2 times a week. Would
love to start lifting weights. Even without lifting weight or going hardcore on exercise, I am still moving with cleaning house, yard work, and chasing after my young kids.
My weight loss has been steady until about 10 months. I have been at the same weight for the last 3 months. I know I need to eat more greens and drink more water and get in the gym. Because of the surgery and Dr. Perez, I have been able to fit in a bath tub, run around with my kids, focus more while doing homework, and my joints are not so sore and achy. I can cross my legs and find myself sitting that way any chance I get. I look at pictures that people take of me and I don’t hate them; I enjoy getting my picture taken.
Height: 5’10”
Heaviest weight (before pre surgery): 310lbs
Surgery weight: 285lbs
Current weight: 185-193lbs - last time I was on scale last week it was 191lbs
Goal weight: 175lbs, but I do like how I look now, if it wasn’t for the loose skin.
I had the mini bypass. I've lost 155lbs altogether, the last time I checked. I was about 300 lbs the days of surgery and 318 the day I started the preop diet. I am not about 165lb. Since having surgery, I've able to be more active with my kids, fit on an airplane more comfortably since I love traveling, and I rode a few rollercoasters! I've included a before/after picture. Thanks so much for this life changing experience!
A mini gastric bypass procedure is a newer version of the traditional gastric bypass procedure. Both methods work well to restrict how much a person eats and reduces the number of calories absorbed by the body. Both methods have the same goal: to create profound weight loss for a person who has struggled to lose weight.
The difference is that a mini gastric bypass is a less complicated procedure. Because it bypasses more of the small bowel, there is less risk of a staple leak occurring. While it may offer benefits to some, it’s important to consider what you can expect from a mini gastric bypass.
Weight loss from a mini-gastric bypass should be about equal to that of traditional bypass surgery. It does not change the overall goal or objectives but instead reduces some of the risks of complications. Typically, that means people can expect to lose 50 to 70% of their excess body weight if they stick to the diet and follow-up care for this procedure.
When comparing mini gastric bypass to gastric bypass, some studies report that individuals with mini gastric bypass actually see better results, with as much as a 25% increase in weight loss efficacy in comparison to other weight loss methods.
The success rates for mini gastric bypass are not just related to the higher potential weight loss than traditional gastric bypass but also to fewer complications. Studies show that this method may help to reduce the complication rate of patients by 7.5%, which may make it far safer for those who are at risk for complications.
Overall success rates for gastric bypass are dependent on how well a person sticks with their diet and new lifestyle choices. However, with consistency, it is possible for patients to see a significant amount of weight loss overall, and weight loss is maintained by most people through the first 10 years of their life after the procedure. Mini gastric bypass does not slow down but may speed up results for some people.

"All I can say is thank you for giving me my life back. When I called and scheduled my appointment I was 315 lb, I started then watching what I ate. When I had the surgery I was 295 lb. I now weigh 180 lb. I never thought I would ever be down under 300 lb again in my life.
I sleep much better, I have more energy, and can walk upstairs without getting winded. All I can say is if anybody wants to have this surgery just do it. I can't say enough about how well I was treated at the clinic. The nurses was nice and they took very good care of me.
If I had it all to do over again I would do it again in a heartbeat. I had the best care I've ever had anywhere. Again thank you so much for everything."

A year down and never been happier!! The journey takes work, but if you're willing to do it the rewards are amazing! Since the procedure I'm am to be more active, go hiking, go to the gym, go to the beach and feel comfortable in my own skin. Going into this surgery I was extremely nervous. Going out of the country far from home was scary, but it was the best decision. I ever made. It changed my life forever!!

There are many achievements that I can list but I will keep it to the ones that are most important to me.
1) I have achieved the love of working out again. I had reached the point of feeling defeated even though I would frequently workout out but my energy level and endurance had hit rock bottom and I felt as if I was just spinning my wheels and not getting a
2) I’ve been able to regain self love again. This in my opinion is one of the most important things to be successful after VSG surgery. I was at the point that I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror and I would do whatever it took to avoid looking at myself. If I d
3) Last but not least I have been able to achieve the ability to recognize when I’m full and making better food choices. Having the restriction in my belly and knowing what to do to keep it is key to my success.
Thank you to all the Renew team for the care and for giving me my life back!!
