Chipotle Bariatric Friendly Guide | What to Order after Bariatric Surgery

Chipotle Mexican Grill is known for its large foil wrapped burritos and their commitment to ethically sourced ingredients and food. Since coming on to the fast food scene in 1993, they have won over popularity with their simple yet fresh menu.

At any given Chipotle restaurant patrons can see staff cooking and preparing items from open to close. Their menu has grown to include health conscience items like Sofritas, a plant based meat, salads and bowls. When ordering, guests are able to control and watch as their meal is being prepared and wrapped, with ingredients of their choosing.

About Chipotle

Chipotle Mexican Grill was founded by Chef Steve Ells in 1993. With the help and a loan from his father, he was able to open the first location in Denver Colorado, close to the University of Denver. Ells and his father hoped to sell 107 burritos per day in order to profit, although after one month, it turned out that they were selling over 1,000 burritos a day.

In 1998, McDonald’s became an investor in the company allowing Chipotle to expand from 16 restaurants in 1998 to over 500 stores by 2005.

As we know Chipotle today, it is operating more than 2,400 restaurants. They do not franchise its business. Chipotle retains ownership of all its locations to set the tone for employee culture and to maintain its commitment to sustainable ingredients.
